monthly soical activity bags

Developed as a way to help keep people socially engaged and positive during the pandemic. The outcome of this community initiative is Community Outcome #1: The community is connected and engaged. Indicator: social support: the activities individuals undertake, within the context of social relationships, to share information and provide emotional or physical support.

Reports and observations of people that were recipients of the bags , indicated that they were so surprised and pleased to receive a gift bag out of the blue that their entire demeanor changed.  Feedback from people that did the activities at home with their families was also very positive and appreciative.

Each month had a different theme, as follows: October- fall theme or Halloween theme party in a bag, November- Senior focus, December- Hygge (Heu-ga) or  Scandinavian for warm & cozy,  January- Bringing in the New Year, February- Let’s get cooking!, March- Movie Night, April- Easter, May- All about gardening, July- Canada Day, August- all about BBQ, September- Back to school survival.

The bags contained monthly theme  items,  supplemental material for doing the activities as well as the monthly FCSS Corner. This provided information about FCSS, as well as a monthly events calendar, so that people could be made aware of and participate in any offered community events
