What is the Bonding with Baby Program?

A collaboration between Alberta Health Services Public Health, the Fairview Public Library and Fairview FCSS. Together, these organizations have been providing baby bags to new parents in Fairview for over 10 years.

The outcome of the program is to nurture and strengthen the bond between newborns and new parents, building stronger families and healthier communities. This is achieved by providing parents with the tools and encouragement to read together with their new baby. The bags contain baby books, community resources, baby’s first library card, and some items just for fun.

What are the Benefits?

• Reading together nurtures and strengthens parent-child bonds
• Families are shown how to make reading enjoyable and valued
• Reading together encourages a positive attitude towards lifelong learning
• Provides fun for the entire family
